The New York Times says, “Etched into the red-rock cliffs, St. George offers a seemingly endless array of hiking and biking trails,” and we have to agree. Not only are there great trails, but the St. George area is home to the magnificent Zion National Park and the stunning Snow Canyon State Park, so the scenery is absolutely fantastic.
Gooseberry Mesa is easily among the ten best mountain biking places in the country, with a variety of technical challenges on both single-track through cedar groves and across amazing slick rock formations. The terrain is intense, constantly changing, and seemingly never ending.
Gooseberry Mesa is a high peninsula shaped plateau and some of the rides we take you on come close enough to the cliff edges that you'll need to stop to admire the view lest you take your eyes off the trail with unfortunate consequences. The Virgin River Rim Trail is another excellent mountain biking ride in this area with great vistas of Zion National Park.
To give your mountain biking muscles a little rest, as a bonus we take you on a couple side trips that include extraordinary hikes that even non-hikers love. You'll hike through beautiful red-rock canyons to amazing Anasazi Indian petroglyphs, and you'll hike to one of the most amazing view points on the face of the earth at the top of 1200 foot cliffs.
