Slickrock: Moab, UT

Moab is world famous for mountain biking for a reason – because it's that good. From the incomparable traction of slick rock to the absolutely amazing rock formations like Gemini Bridges, Moab is one place that every person who calls themselves a mountain biker should visit at least once. Or maybe even half a dozen times.

The traction of slick rock is such that if you can stand on it in tennis shoes, you can ride up it, down it, or even across it. Think about it; it's freaky! Moab is full of slick rock, sometimes just in small patches, and sometimes for as far as the eye can see.

In addition to the namesake Slick Rock Trail, there are fantastic rides like Porcupine Rim, which finishes along the bluffs above the Colorado River and Amasaback which stair steps up the side of the mountain in ledges that you can't believe you can ride up or down. It's all borderline surreal, and it's all unforgettable! Some of the rock formations around Moab are unique to the world and have graced many a calendar and coffee table book. As a bonus, side trips are available to the amazing Arches National Park and the jaw-dropping Dead Horse Point.

To top it all off, Moab is a great little town that is specifically geared to mountain biking and mountain bikers. There are plenty of restaurants of multiple varieties from Chinese to Mexican to Italian to good old American. You're sure to find your liking.

To maximize riding time, depending on the weather and your airline schedule, we might start and/or end your adventure with a ride in Park City for a bit of variety. The high alpine environment of Park City provides a fun and marked contrast to the deserts of Moab. Plus we get a kick out of hearing our group debating which ride was their favorite!
